Are you devoted to helping to find furrever homes for cats? Hooked on the rescue and rehabilitation of hedgehogs? Or wild about rescuing British wild birds? Whatever your animal passion, this specialist insurance has you covered.
GET A QUOTE & BUYAnimal rescue may be a worthwhile and rewarding venture, but it does not come without its risks. Whether you are caring for cats, swans or hedgehogs, all animal rescues are responsible for the safety of their employees, volunteers and the general public who may visit or interact with the rescue.
From an animal-related injury to your volunteers to property damage, insurance is a vital investment.
The friendly Cliverton team has more than 50 years’ experience insuring animal-related businesses and organisations, so you can rest assured that we will provide you with the right cover at the right price.
As we speak your language, we can also offer empathic support at the time you need us most.
This policy is suitable for people, businesses or rescue organisations who are looking to cover their public liability for the rescuing and re-homing of animals. It is not suitable for those looking to cover vet fees and this policy will not cover the rescuing of dogs. Please visit the dog rescue section of the website.
There are two main types of insurance you need if you run a pet or wildlife rescue centre. Both are included in our pet and wildlife rescue insurance policy.
Public liability – designed to protect you against liability claims for injury caused to third parties or damage to their property as a result of the rescue’s negligence. For instance, a cat bites the finger of a visitor.
Your Cliverton pet and wildlife rescue insurance policy will include public liability cover up to £5 million (but this can be extended to £10 million for an additional premium).
Products liability – will cover you for claims arising from products (up to £5 million) used by you during the course of your business activities.
Covers you for any small domestic animals from cats to snakes and any small wildlife, such as hedgehogs. If you deal with the occasional larger animals, such as horses or donkeys, please still get in touch as we may well be able to help.
Employers’ liability – where you have paid, voluntary (including foster carers) or self-employed helpers working for you in connection with your business, it is a legal requirement that you have employers’ liability insurance. This will provide cover in the event of them being injured whilst working for you due to your negligence.
If you have or are thinking about having school age work experience, please contact the office.
The amount of cover provided is £10 million.
Personal accident – provides financial compensation should the insured party be injured while carrying out business activities. You can choose from benefits of up to £250 per week. This section includes a lump sum compensation for accidental death, permanent loss of sight and/or limbs and total disablement.
Please note that this does not cover any pre-existing conditions or illness, or any injury sustained whilst commuting to or from work.
Professional indemnity – if you give professional advice as a service for a separate fee and that advice results in either a physical or financial loss, professional indemnity will cover any resultant claims.
Standard cover is payable up to £500,000 but we are also able to offer lower limits of professional indemnity cover for reduced premiums.
Events, shows and fundraising – where you organise events, shows or fundraising in connection with your business, we are able to arrange public liability.
We offer cover for single or multiple events depending on your requirements.
Equipment and property – you can add cover for business property and equipment to your policy. This can include most items used for your business ranging from small items, such as leads and collars and stock, to large items, such as office equipment.
We are also able to arrange additional cover for commercial premises, business interruption, theft of money and your home. If you are running a business from your home, we recommend that you notify your home insurer.
Legal expenses - this is designed to protect you from unexpected legal costs arising from business risks. Find out more.
